My imaging report is missing from my portal

My imaging report is missing from my portal

Imaging reports may not appear in the Silent Hill Health portal right away. Your exam may still be waiting for radiology review, the report may be preliminary, the images may have been completed at an outside imaging center, or the report may be filed under a different visit, facility, or profile.

This article explains how imaging reports move through the portal, why images may be available separately from the written report, and when to contact your care team or Silent Hill Health portal support.

Best first step

Open Tests & Results in your portal, clear date and facility filters, then check Imaging, Hospital Results, Outside Results, and the visit where the exam was ordered.

Quick summary

  • Imaging reports usually need radiology review before they appear.
  • A preliminary report may appear before the final report.
  • Images and written reports may appear in different portal areas.
  • Outside imaging centers may send reports later or through a separate records process.
  • Facility, visit, and date filters can hide reports that are already available.
  • Contact support if the report should be final but does not display after checking filters, source, and profile details.

Radiology Review Preliminary Final Outside Imaging Images Requested Profile Review

Radiology review

After an imaging exam, the images are usually reviewed by a radiologist or interpreting specialist. That review becomes the written imaging report. The report may not appear until the review is complete, signed, and released to the portal.

Some exams are reviewed quickly. Others may take longer if the study is complex, needs comparison with prior imaging, was completed after hours, requires a specialist review, or was performed at an outside location.

Portal status What it may mean
Scheduled The imaging appointment is scheduled but not completed.
Completed The exam was performed, but the report may still be pending review.
Preliminary An early report is available and may still be updated.
Final The radiology report has been completed and signed.
Addendum or Corrected The report was updated after the original version was released.

Preliminary vs. final reports

Some imaging results may appear as preliminary before the final report is available. Preliminary reports can be useful for early care decisions, but they may change after full radiology review, comparison with prior imaging, or provider follow-up.

If you saw a preliminary report earlier and cannot find it now, check whether the portal replaced it with a final report, moved it under report history, or attached it to the visit where the imaging was performed.

Check these areas

  • The current final report.
  • Report history or previous versions.
  • The hospital or emergency visit where imaging was performed.
  • Provider comments attached to the result.
  • Addendum or corrected report sections.

[[sh:First it says one thing. Then it says it always said another. Do not ask which version was awake.]]

Outside imaging centers

If your imaging was completed outside Silent Hill Health, the report may not appear in your portal automatically. The outside imaging center may send the report to the ordering provider, to medical records, or to a separate electronic exchange before it appears in your chart.

If the outside center gave you a disc, download link, printed report, or release form, keep it until your care team confirms that the images and report were received.

Where imaging was completed Where to check
Silent Hill Health imaging location Tests & Results, Imaging, Hospital Results, or the visit where the exam was ordered.
Outside imaging center Outside Results, Medical Records, or the outside center’s own portal.
Emergency department or hospital visit Hospital Results or the encounter summary for that visit.
Brookhaven Hospital care episode Brookhaven records, hospital results, or restricted-release sections if applicable.

[[sh:The road out of town returns the films last. Sometimes only the report comes back. Sometimes the report has wet corners.]]

Images vs. reports

The written imaging report and the actual image files are not always stored in the same portal area. You may be able to see the report before the images are available, or you may need to request image access separately.

The report is the radiologist’s written interpretation. The images are the actual X-ray, CT, MRI, ultrasound, or other scan files. Some patients only need the report. Specialists, surgeons, or outside providers may need the actual image files.

Item What it is Where it may appear
Imaging report Written interpretation from radiology. Tests & Results, Imaging, Hospital Results, or visit details.
Image files The actual scan images. Image Viewer, Radiology Images, or Medical Records request.
Outside images Images performed at a non-Silent Hill Health location. Outside facility portal, imported records, or image upload/release workflow.

Report and image files may not arrive together.

Check portal filters

A report may look missing if your portal is filtered to the wrong date range, provider, facility, result type, or visit. This can happen when imaging is ordered at one location and performed or interpreted at another.

In the portal, clear filters and search broadly before opening a support request. Try searching by test name, body area, date, facility, or ordering provider.

Filter checklist

  • Change the date range to show older results.
  • Switch from recent results to all results.
  • Clear facility, department, provider, and result-type filters.
  • Check hospital results separately from clinic results.
  • Check imaging reports separately from image files.
  • Search for the body area, such as chest, abdomen, head, spine, arm, or leg.

[[sh:Clear the date range. The oldest image is still looking at you.]]

Report delays

Imaging reports can be delayed for several reasons. The scan may still need radiology review, prior images may be needed for comparison, the report may require correction, or the report may be waiting for release from an outside system.

Delays can also happen if the exam was not completed, the images need to be repeated, the report was routed to the ordering provider first, or there is a technical issue connecting the imaging system to the portal.

Possible delay What to do
Radiology review pending Check again later or contact the ordering clinic if the result is needed urgently.
Prior images needed Ask whether outside images or records need to be sent for comparison.
Report corrected or addended Check for an updated report, addendum, or provider comment.
Portal routing issue Contact portal support if the clinic can see the report but you cannot.

Duplicate profiles

A missing imaging report may be caused by duplicate patient profiles. This can happen if registration details were entered differently at different locations or if an outside imaging center sent the report under a different name, date of birth, phone number, or medical record.

Portal support may need to review whether the report is connected to another profile or whether Health Information Management needs to merge, link, or correct the record.

Duplicate profile clues

  • You can see the appointment but not the report.
  • One facility shows different contact or name information.
  • You received more than one portal invitation.
  • An outside imaging center used an old name or address.
  • Your clinic says the report exists, but it does not appear in your portal.

[[sh:There is another chart with your face in it. It has been waiting longer than you have.]]

What to check first

Before contacting support, gather details about the exam. This helps the team find the report, image files, facility source, or profile issue more quickly.

Missing imaging report checklist

  • Date and approximate time of the imaging exam.
  • Where the exam was performed.
  • Type of imaging, such as X-ray, CT, MRI, ultrasound, or mammogram.
  • Body area scanned.
  • Ordering provider or clinic.
  • Whether the report appears in another portal or outside system.
  • Whether you are missing the written report, the image files, or both.

When to contact support

Contact Silent Hill Health portal support if the imaging report should be available but does not display after checking filters, facility, report status, outside imaging source, and duplicate profile clues.

Contact your care team instead if you need help understanding the result, deciding what to do next, or determining whether a delay affects your care plan.

FAQ

Why can I see that the scan was completed but not the report?

The images may have been completed, but the written report may still be waiting for radiology review, final signature, comparison with prior images, or release to the portal.

Is a preliminary report the final result?

Not always. A preliminary report may be updated after final review. Check again for a final, corrected, or addended version, and contact your care team if you need help understanding what changed.

Why can I see the report but not the images?

Reports and image files may be stored separately. The written report may appear in Tests & Results, while images may require an image viewer, radiology records request, or medical records request.

What if my imaging was done outside Silent Hill Health?

Check the outside imaging center’s portal or ask whether the report and images were sent to Silent Hill Health. Outside records may not appear automatically unless they are imported or linked to your chart.

Could the report be under the wrong visit?

Yes. Imaging may appear under the visit where it was ordered, the facility where it was performed, the hospital encounter, or the department that interpreted it. Clear filters and check all results before reporting it missing.

Should I contact my provider or portal support?

Contact your provider for medical questions or next steps. Contact portal support if the report should be available but is missing, hidden by filters, attached to the wrong visit, or possibly linked to a duplicate profile.

Is a missing imaging report an emergency?

Usually no, but symptoms matter more than the portal display. If symptoms are severe, rapidly worsening, or feel urgent, seek urgent or emergency care instead of waiting for the report to appear.
