Schedule lab work, imaging, or diagnostic testing

You can use the Silent Hill Health patient portal to request or schedule lab work, imaging, and diagnostic testing. Testing may be ordered before an upcoming appointment, after an Alchemilla emergency visit, during outpatient follow-up, before a procedure, or as part of Brookhaven medication monitoring or behavioral health care coordination.

Some testing can be scheduled directly. Other requests require an active provider order, referral review, insurance authorization, department approval, or records matching before a testing appointment can be confirmed.

Note: Testing availability may change during lab processing delays, imaging equipment downtime, emergency department surges, records-room service interruptions, lake fog advisories, or townwide siren events.

Testing you can schedule

Available testing depends on the provider order, facility, department, and reason for the appointment.

Lab work Bloodwork, specimen collection, medication monitoring, pre-visit testing, pre-procedure testing, or follow-up labs after emergency or inpatient care.
X-rays Standard diagnostic X-rays ordered by an Alchemilla provider, emergency clinician, outpatient clinic, or authorized outside provider.
Diagnostic imaging CT, ultrasound, radiology appointments, image-guided testing, or other diagnostic imaging services.
Emergency follow-up testing Testing recommended after an Alchemilla emergency visit, observation stay, discharge instruction, or provider review.
Brookhaven-related monitoring Lab work or monitoring requested for medication management, behavioral health treatment planning, or post-discharge care coordination.
Tip: If you are unsure whether you need lab work, imaging, or a provider visit first, choose the closest testing option and explain what your provider told you in the request notes.

Before you begin

Before requesting testing, gather the information Scheduling Services may need.

  • Your full legal name and date of birth
  • Your Silent Hill Health Patient ID, if available
  • The type of test you were told to schedule
  • The provider or department that ordered the test
  • Preferred facility, such as Alchemilla Hospital or a Silent Hill Health outpatient lab
  • Preferred dates and times
  • Recent visit, discharge, referral, or procedure information connected to the test
  • Insurance information, if authorization may be needed
  • Any preparation instructions you were given
  • Guardian, caregiver, or authorized-access information, if someone else helps manage your care
Important: Do not schedule routine testing if your symptoms are severe, sudden, worsening, or unsafe to wait. Go to the Alchemilla Hospital emergency department or contact local emergency services.

Schedule testing through the portal

To request lab work, imaging, or diagnostic testing:

  1. Sign in to your Silent Hill Health patient portal:
  2. Go to Appointments, Testing, Diagnostics, or Schedule a visit.
  3. Choose Lab work, Imaging, X-ray, or Diagnostic testing.
  4. Select the facility or department listed on your order, if available.
  5. Enter your preferred dates, times, phone number, and contact method.
  6. Add the provider name, order details, recent visit date, discharge instructions, or reason for testing.
  7. Upload outside orders, referral documents, insurance information, or discharge paperwork if requested.
  8. Review the request and select Submit testing request.
Note: Most imaging and diagnostic testing is scheduled through Alchemilla Hospital or Silent Hill Health outpatient diagnostics. Brookhaven-related lab monitoring may still require a Brookhaven provider order or care-team review.

Orders, referrals, and review

Some tests require an active order before they can be scheduled. If the order is missing, expired, unclear, attached to the wrong profile, or waiting for provider review, Scheduling Services may not be able to confirm the appointment right away.

Review may be needed when:

  • The test was ordered after an Alchemilla emergency visit
  • The test is needed before a procedure or specialist appointment
  • The request involves CT, ultrasound, or specialized diagnostic imaging
  • Insurance authorization is required before scheduling
  • An outside provider order needs Alchemilla review
  • The order is attached to a duplicate or incorrect patient profile
  • Brookhaven and Alchemilla records need to be linked before scheduling
  • A provider needs to review recent records before approving the test
Tip: If your provider gave you a paper order, upload a clear copy through the portal or bring it with you if Scheduling Services instructs you to do so.

Preparation instructions

Some lab, imaging, or diagnostic appointments require preparation. Follow the instructions provided by your care team or Scheduling Services.

Preparation may include:

  • Fasting before certain lab tests
  • Medication timing instructions
  • Bringing a current medication list
  • Bringing identification and insurance information
  • Arriving early for registration
  • Avoiding certain clothing or metal items for imaging appointments
  • Bringing prior imaging or outside records, if requested
  • Arranging transportation if the test or procedure requires it
Important: If you do not understand your preparation instructions, contact Scheduling Services before the appointment. Missing preparation steps may cause testing to be delayed or rescheduled.

Results and records

Results may not appear in the portal immediately after testing. Lab results, imaging reports, diagnostic interpretations, and provider notes may require review before release.

Results may be delayed when:

  • A provider must review the result before release
  • Radiology interpretation is still pending
  • A corrected result or addendum is being processed
  • The result is connected to a hospital stay or emergency visit
  • Records are attached to the wrong profile or duplicate account
  • Older testing records require archive retrieval
Note: For copies of imaging, X-rays, or diagnostic reports, see Request imaging, X-rays, or diagnostic reports . For delayed portal records, see Why some records may not appear in your portal right away .

Troubleshooting

I cannot schedule because no order is found

Some tests require an active provider order. Contact the ordering provider or submit a testing request with the provider name, visit date, and any paperwork you received.

My order is attached to the wrong profile

Do not create a new portal account. Submit an account or record mismatch request so Patient Accounts & Records can review the profile before testing is scheduled.

My insurance authorization is pending

Some imaging and diagnostic tests require insurance authorization before scheduling. Scheduling Services may contact you through the portal if additional information is needed.

My results are not showing after testing

Results may require provider review, radiology interpretation, corrected-result processing, or portal release review before they appear. Check again after the expected review period or contact the ordering provider.

The scheduling page looks wrong or keeps refreshing
  • Refresh your browser.
  • Clear your browser cache.
  • Try a different browser or device.
  • Check that you are signed in to the correct patient profile.
  • Wait and try again if the town siren has recently sounded.
  • Avoid using public terminals located in restricted labs, emergency back corridors, or archive areas.
