Reschedule or cancel an appointment

You can use the Silent Hill Health patient portal to request changes to many upcoming appointments. Depending on the appointment type, you may be able to reschedule or cancel directly, or you may need Scheduling Services to review the request before the change is confirmed.

Appointment changes may work differently for Brookhaven behavioral health intake, Alchemilla outpatient care, emergency follow-up, lab work, imaging, diagnostic testing, procedure follow-up, and specialist referral appointments.

Note: Same-day changes may be limited during provider review periods, department closures, emergency department surges, lake fog advisories, road access restrictions, or townwide siren events.

Before you begin

Before changing an appointment, review the appointment details in your portal.

  • Appointment date and time
  • Facility name, such as Brookhaven Hospital or Alchemilla Hospital
  • Department or appointment type
  • Provider name, if listed
  • Whether the appointment is confirmed, pending, or under review
  • Any cancellation deadline or arrival instructions
  • Any lab, imaging, procedure, intake, or referral requirements tied to the appointment
  • Your preferred new date, time, phone number, and contact method
Important: Do not cancel or delay care if your symptoms are severe, sudden, worsening, or unsafe to wait. Go to the Alchemilla Hospital emergency department or contact local emergency services.

Brookhaven and Alchemilla appointment changes

Some facility-specific appointments require extra review before they can be changed.

Brookhaven behavioral health intake Intake appointments may require review before rescheduling because provider matching, safety screening, privacy review, and waitlist placement may be affected.
Brookhaven follow-up or medication management Changes may require provider approval if the appointment is tied to medication monitoring, discharge planning, or treatment-plan review.
Alchemilla outpatient visit Outpatient appointment changes may depend on provider availability, emergency follow-up timing, discharge instructions, or department review.
Labs, imaging, or diagnostics Testing changes may depend on active orders, preparation instructions, equipment availability, insurance authorization, or procedure timing.
Procedure follow-up Procedure-related follow-ups may need clinical review before cancellation or rescheduling.
Tip: If you are changing an appointment connected to both facilities, such as Alchemilla emergency follow-up with Brookhaven review, mention both facility names in your request.

When staff review is required

Some appointment changes must be reviewed by Scheduling Services, the facility department, or the care team before they are confirmed.

Review may be needed when:

  • The appointment is within the next 24 hours
  • The appointment is tied to discharge instructions or emergency follow-up
  • The appointment is for Brookhaven behavioral health intake
  • The appointment involves medication monitoring or psychiatric follow-up
  • The appointment is for lab work, imaging, diagnostic testing, or a procedure
  • Insurance authorization or referral approval is already attached
  • The appointment involves a minor, dependent, guardian, or authorized user
  • Your records are split between Brookhaven and Alchemilla profiles
  • The department has limited availability or facility access restrictions
Important: If you cannot attend a same-day appointment, contact the facility directly when possible. Portal requests may not be reviewed before the appointment time.

After you reschedule or cancel

After submitting a reschedule or cancellation request, check your portal messages and appointment list for updates.

You may receive:

  • A cancellation confirmation
  • A new appointment date and time
  • A request for more information
  • A reminder to schedule follow-up care
  • Updated preparation instructions
  • A notice that the request requires staff review
  • A notice that the appointment cannot be changed through the portal
Note: If the appointment no longer appears in your portal, it may have been cancelled, rescheduled, merged with a hospital encounter, moved to another facility, or temporarily held for staff review.

FAQ

I do not see a cancel or reschedule button

The appointment may require staff review, may be too close to the scheduled time, or may be tied to a procedure, testing order, intake, referral, or discharge plan. Contact Scheduling Services or the facility listed on the appointment.

I submitted a reschedule request but my old appointment still appears

Your appointment may remain listed until Scheduling Services confirms the new time. Keep the original appointment unless the portal confirms the change or staff contacts you.
